Getting started

Steps

1. Sign up and use a paid version of Jira
2. Install the SamAuditor Jira addon from the Jira marketplace
3. Follow instructions from the downloads
4. Run the agent (Windows 10/11 only)
5. Return to the SamAuditor addon to view information on your PCs

Step 1 - Sign up and use a paid version of Jira

• If you are a new user to Jira, visit https://www.atlassian.com/ and sign up for a new account. otherwise login to your instance

Step 2 - Install SamAuditor Addon from the Jira marketplace

• You can try out the product on the Jira marketplace

Step 3 - Follow instructions from the downloads

• a) Download the agent from here (in the Downloads folder) and copy to a folder on your PC
  
  

Step 4 - Run the agent on a Windows PC

• a) Open a command prompt and cd to that directory with SamAuditor.exe
  
  
• b) Run once
  Type the following:

  SamAuditorAgent.exe -token your-upload-key-here

  
  
• c) Store your upload token (for next time)
  So that you can run it without the key (e.g. daily), save the key to either a local file or to the registry:

  SamAuditorAgent.exe -token your-upload-key-here -savefile
  or
  SamAuditorAgent.exe -token your-upload-key-here -saveregistry

  
  
• d) Make this permanent and run daily
  

  SamAuditorAgent.exe -schedule

Step 5 - Return to the SamAuditor addon to view information on your PC

Return to your SAMAuditor addon for Jira and:

• Look in Nodes and you should now have PCs you can look through.

• Look in Software and you should now have PCs you can look through.

• Look in Licenses and create and assign licenses.

• Look in Rules to detect unknown software or software unique to your company.

Please note that it may take several days to identify all new Software.
